Lucebox AI Workstation Now Available

Lucebox has opened direct orders for its AMD-powered local AI workstation, making it accessible for general purchase. Previously, buyers had to apply for an allocation, but now you can order directly from Lucebox’s website. The system combines AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ 395 Strix Halo APU with a Radeon AI Pro R9700, offering 128 GB of combined GPU-accessible memory.

The Developer configuration costs $5,999 and includes worldwide shipping and taxes. A Business package is also available for $7,999, which comes with a year of Lucebox Engine Pro, white-glove installation, and direct engineering support. However, you need to contact Lucebox support for the Business package.

The hardware specs are impressive. The Strix Halo APU features 128 GB of LPDDR5X-8000 unified memory, while the R9700 adds another 32 GB of GDDR6 VRAM. The complete system fits inside an 11.97-liter aluminum enclosure and comes with a 2 TB NVMe SSD, 5 Gbps Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7, and a 1,000 W 80 Plus Platinum power supply.

Lucebox has been using this combination to split larger models between the R9700 and Strix Halo. For instance, they ran the 284-billion-parameter DeepSeek V4 Flash model across both devices, achieving 86 tokens per second during decoding. However, Lucebox cautions that their published comparisons involve different test setups and quantization methods, so you may need to fine-tune models yourself.

If you’re in the market for a powerful mini PC capable of handling local AI workloads, the Lucebox AI workstation is a strong contender. It offers a robust combination of AMD’s latest APU and discrete GPU, providing ample memory and processing power for demanding AI tasks. The direct ordering process makes it more accessible than before, although the price tag is still quite high.
